Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

Sessions generally last 60 minutes and are held on a weekly basis. This regular schedule provides a consistent and structured framework for addressing your concerns, making steady progress, and maintaining continuity in your therapeutic journey.

The weekly format allows for ongoing support and helps build a strong therapeutic relationship, which is crucial for effective treatment and achieving your goals.

Private pay costs vary by therapist. For clients using insurance, out-of-pocket costs are usually lower, involving either a co-pay or co-insurance after the deductible is met.

The co-pay or co-insurance amount depends on the insurance provider and typically ranges from about 10% to 30% of the session fee.

Yes. Many of our therapists are in-network with the following insurance providers:

  • Aetna
  • Cigna
  • Kaiser Permanente
  • First Choice Health
  • Premera BlueShield
  • Regence BlueCross
  • Tricare
  • United Behavioral Health

Yes, teletherapy, also known as online therapy or virtual therapy, can be effective for many people. Research and clinical experience have shown that teletherapy can be as beneficial as in-person therapy for a range of mental health concerns. Here’s how it can be effective:

  1. Accessibility: Teletherapy provides access to mental health services for individuals who may have difficulty attending in-person sessions due to geographical distance, mobility issues, or busy schedules.
  2. Convenience: It allows for greater flexibility in scheduling and can be conducted from the comfort of your own home, which can reduce barriers such as transportation or time constraints.
  3. Continuity of Care: Teletherapy enables ongoing support even when in-person meetings are not possible, such as during travel, illness, or emergency situations.
  4. Comfort and Privacy: Many people find the virtual format to be less intimidating and more private, which can facilitate open communication and engagement in the therapeutic process.
  5. Effectiveness: Studies have found that teletherapy is effective for a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, and stress, and can lead to significant improvements in mental health outcomes.
  6. Therapeutic Alliance: The quality of the therapeutic relationship, or alliance, remains strong in teletherapy. Building a strong connection with your therapist is crucial for effective treatment, and this can be achieved through virtual sessions.
  7. Evidence-Based Practices: Many evidence-based therapeutic approaches, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), are effective when delivered online. Therapists can use various digital tools and platforms to facilitate these approaches.

Billing Questions

The best way to determine if your insurance covers therapy is to contact your insurance provider directly. You can ask them about your mental health benefits, including whether they cover outpatient therapy, the types of therapy covered, and if your plan requires a referral. If you’re unsure, we can also assist you in verifying your benefits or provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurer for reimbursement. At Piiq Space, we take the worry out of the process for you. Before your first session, we’ll verify your insurance benefits to ensure that your plan covers therapy and inform you of any potential costs, such as co-pays or co-insurance. This way, you don’t have to stress about the financial details and can focus entirely on your therapy and personal growth. If your insurance doesn’t cover therapy or you prefer not to use it, we can discuss alternative payment options, including sliding scale fees or paying out-of-pocket.

We’re here to help make the process as seamless as possible!

Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds for missed sessions. As outlined in our cancellation policy, we require at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment.

If you miss a session without giving proper notice, you’ll be charged the full session fee according to your therapist’s cancellation policy. However, we are always happy to reschedule appointments and will work with you to find a time that fits your schedule.

If you have any further questions or need assistance with understanding your pricing, insurance coverage, or payment options, please feel free to reach out. We’re here to support you on your therapy journey!

    Pricing

    Session Pricing

    • Duration 60-75 minutes

    Group Therapy

    Accepted Insurance

Why pay out of pocket when your insurance may cover most of the cost?

Using your insurance benefits can significantly reduce your out-of-pocket expenses. Once your deductible is met, you’re typically only responsible for a co-pay or co-insurance, which is often much lower than the full session fee.

By using your in-network benefits, you gain access to high-quality care at a more affordable rate — making therapy more sustainable over time. If you're unsure about your coverage, we recommend contacting your insurance provider or reaching out to your therapist directly for help verifying your benefits.

We accept a variety of payment methods for your convenience.

    Credit and debit cards

    Automatic billing available

    HSA and FSA accounts

    Insurance Co-pays and Co-insurance

Payment is due at the time of service. We offer secure storage of payment information for hassle-free recurring payments.

    Sliding Scale / Financial Assistance

We understand the cost of therapy can be a barrier for some, which is why we offer sliding scale fees and financial assistance options to ensure therapy is accessible to everyone, regardless of financial circumstances. Our sliding scale allows for flexibility in pricing, based on your income and individual situation, so you can receive the care you need without the stress of financial burden.

If you’re in need of additional support, our team is here to discuss options and work with you to find a plan that fits your budget. We believe in the importance of accessible mental health care, and we’re committed to helping you prioritize your well-being without compromising on quality. Please reach out to discuss how we can help make therapy affordable for you.

    Cancellation & Rescheduling

At Piiq Space, we understand that life happens, and sometimes you may need to cancel or reschedule your therapy session. To ensure that all of our clients have access to the care they need, we kindly ask that you provide at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment.

If a session is canceled with less than 24 hours' notice, or if you miss your scheduled session without prior notice, you will be charged a cancellation fee. The fee is based on your therapist's individual cancellation policy and will vary depending on their specific rate.

    How to Cancel or Reschedule
To cancel or reschedule an appointment, please reach out to your therapist directly via phone or through the Therapy Appointment message center at least 24 hours before your scheduled session. If you need assistance, you can also contact our office, and we’ll be happy to help.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping us provide timely care to all our clients.

Using FSA & HSA to Pay for Therapy

If you have a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA), you can use these pre-tax funds to pay for therapy sessions at Piiq Space. Both FSA and HSA are great options for making therapy more affordable, as they allow you to set aside money from your paycheck before taxes to pay for qualified health expenses, including mental health services like therapy.

    How It Works:

    • FSA/HSA Payment: You can use the funds in your FSA or HSA to pay for your therapy sessions directly. These accounts allow you to cover all or part of the costs, depending on your available balance.
    • No Need for Insurance: If you prefer not to use insurance or are paying out-of-pocket, using your FSA or HSA is a flexible and tax-advantaged way to manage the costs of therapy.
    • Documentation: Piiq Space provides the necessary superbill for FSA/HSA reimbursements. This itemized receipt includes information such as the date of service, therapist name, session cost, and treatment codes, all of which are needed for reimbursement from your FSA or HSA provider.
    • Submitting for Reimbursement: After paying for your session with FSA or HSA funds, you can submit the superbill to your FSA/HSA provider for reimbursement. The process is often straightforward and can be done via your account portal, by mail, or through your insurance provider’s mobile app, depending on the provider’s process.

Benefits of Using FSA/HSA for Therapy:

    • Tax Savings: Both FSA and HSA contributions are made with pre-tax dollars, meaning you save on taxes, which makes therapy more affordable.
    • No Insurance Hassle: You don’t need to worry about insurance coverage or out-of-network benefits, and you can use your FSA/HSA for any therapy-related services we offer.
    • Flexibility: FSAs and HSAs are flexible, allowing you to manage and allocate funds in a way that works best for your financial and healthcare needs.

If you’d like to learn more about using your FSA or HSA to pay for therapy, or if you need assistance with submitting your superbill, please reach out to us. We’re here to help make the process as seamless as possible!

    Out-of-Network Coverage and Superbills

At Piiq Space, we understand that not all insurance plans are in-network with our therapists. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t still use your insurance benefits for therapy. If your insurance plan is out-of-network, we can still support you by providing a superbill—an itemized receipt detailing the services you’ve received, including the diagnosis code, treatment code, and the amount you paid.

    How It Works:

    • Payment: You pay for your session directly to your therapist, according to the agreed-upon fee or sliding scale rate.
    • Superbill: After your session, we’ll provide you with a superbill that includes all the necessary information for your insurance company to process your claim.
    • Submitting to Insurance: You submit the superbill to your insurance provider. Most insurance companies will reimburse you for a portion of the session cost based on your out-of-network benefits.
    • Reimbursement: Depending on your plan, your insurance company may cover a percentage of the session fee, which can help reduce your overall costs. The reimbursement rate and process will vary by insurance provider and plan.

    The Benefits:

    • You can still access high-quality care even if your therapist isn’t in-network.
    • Using your out-of-network benefits can lower your overall therapy costs.
    • We take the guesswork out of the process by providing a detailed superbill for easy insurance submissions.
    • We’re happy to guide you through this process and ensure it’s as smooth as possible. If you’re unsure about your out-of-network benefits or need assistance with submitting a claim, our team is here to help! Just reach out, and we’ll make sure you’re supported throughout the process.

    About

    Our Mission

Our mission at Piiq Space is to help clients reach their Piiq potential—one person, one session, and one breakthrough at a time. We believe that therapy is not just about addressing challenges; it’s about creating a space for growth, healing, and transformation, where reaching your potential is not just possible, but inevitable.

    About Piiq Space

Welcome to Piiq Space (pronounced Peak Space)! I’m Dr. Manivong J. Ratts, though many people call me “Vong,” “Dr. Vong,” or “Dr. Ratts.” I bring over 15 years of experience in the counseling profession.

Piiq Space was built with a deep understanding of the unique needs of both therapists and clients. I founded Piiq Space with a clear purpose: to create a space where therapists are fully supported, empowering them to help clients reach their piiq potential. As a counseling professor, I mentor countless counseling students and graduates, helping them grow and refine their skills. Now, I’m taking that commitment to the next level by providing interns, associates, and therapists with the resources, tools, and environment they need to thrive. When therapists feel supported, they become better equipped to drive lasting, positive change in their clients’ lives.

Piiq Space bridges two powerful ideas: helping clients reach their piiq potential and providing them with the space they need to grow, heal, and thrive. At its core, the word “piiq” represents a sense of reaching the highest version of oneself—your piiq potential—where you feel empowered, balanced, and aligned with your true purpose. The idea of “space” reflects our commitment to creating an environment where clients can explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences without judgment or limitations.

At Piiq Space, I am committed to fostering a community of therapists who are not only skilled but also passionate about being change agents in the lives of their clients. If you share this vision and are eager to be part of a supportive, growth-oriented environment, I invite you to join Piiq Space. Together, we can help clients reach their full piiq potential, while empowering you to thrive in your professional journey.

    Piiq Space Core Values

    Inclusivity

We embrace the richness of human diversity and believe that every individual, regardless of their background or life experience, deserves access to therapy that respects and values their unique identity. We are committed to providing a welcoming space for all.

    Growth

Our ultimate goal is to facilitate real, lasting transformation. We believe in the power of healing through therapy and are dedicated to helping clients reach their piiq potential—mentally, emotionally, and behaviorally.

    Community

Therapy is most effective when there is a strong, collaborative connection between client and therapist. We create a safe, supportive space for growth, healing, and transformation. The bond between therapist and client is essential for profound change.

    Empathy

We foster a non-judgmental, empathetic environment where clients feel understood and valued. Compassion is at the heart of everything we do, allowing us to create a space where individuals can explore their inner world and heal at their own pace.

    Quality

We are committed to authenticity in our practice—both in our approach to therapy and in our relationships with clients. Our therapists operate with integrity, creating an environment where clients can feel safe to be their true selves without fear of judgment.

    Trust

We prioritize the confidentiality of our clients and ensure that their privacy is protected at all times. Every client is treated with the utmost respect, dignity, and care, knowing that they are in a space that honors their personal journey.
